What qualifications are required to become a member of the Institute?
This varies considerably, depending on the candidate.
The candidate may have gained construction knowledge over many years within a trade background, having advanced through management positions, with responsibilities associated with site inspection.
or
The candidate may have achieved various construction qualifications and is possibly already in a Clerk of Works or similar role and is now seeking recognition within the construction industry or via their employer.
How do I join the Institute?
Complete the membership application form and returning it to ICWCI together with an up-to-date CV, reference from present employer/recent client (confirming present position, responsibilities and tenure of office), copies of any construction related qualifications achieved and the entrance fee of £150.00.

What happens next?
Once an application has been received it will be processed. The candidate will then be invited to complete a competency report; if he/she successfully passes that stage they will be subsequently invited to attend an interview.
The full assessment will consider the candidate's competency, experience, qualifications and construction knowledge .
Within approximately six weeks of receiving a completed competency report we aim to carry out the interview and notify, the candidate of the result and if they have been successful they will be advised of their election date to the grade of membership that they are offered. Once their election date has passed and they have paid their first subscription fee, the individual may use the designatory letters they have been awarded.
